Withdrawal from Additive Manufacturing

ARBURG is withdrawing from the additive manufacturing (AM) business area as of 31 December 2025. Support for existing customers and users of the freeformer in terms of service and spare parts is assured.

"This business decision was taken after careful evaluation and consideration of the current market situation and the current economic parameters," says Dr Armin Schmiedeberg, Chairman of the Advisory Board at ARBURG. Although the freeformer industrial manufacturing system and the associated ARBURG Plastic Freeforming (APF) production process caused a stir throughout the industry following their market launch at K 2013 due to their unique technological features, it has not been possible to realise the economic targets for this business area in the long term, nor has the global 3D printing market as a whole developed in line with expectations.

Customer support ensured worldwide

However, existing AM customers and users of the freeformer can continue to rely on ARBURG's brand promise "Wir sind da.": In future, they will be fully supported directly by ARBURG. This includes a reliable spare parts supply and comprehensive service for existing freeformers on the market. However, ARBURG will no longer participate in trade fairs, events and symposia.

ARBURG takes over employees and expertise

The approximately 40 ARBURGadditive employees from sales, development, application technology and assembly will have the opportunity to transfer to ARBURG, so that customers can continue to rely on competent contacts and long-standing experts.
