In the production of customer-specific sensor and automation components, flexibility, process reliability and transparency are key factors for success. At Turck’s Mexican production location, 46 ALLROUNDER injection moulding machines and the ARBURG MES (ALS) ensure efficient sequences – from rapid mould changes to the end-to-end digitalisation of production. This enables the company to manufacture a wide variety of products cost-effectively while continuously improving quality and productivity.

Greater machine utilisation

Trialling the ARBURG host computer system (ALS) enabled Turck to increase monthly machine utilisation by 1,428 production hours between 2023 and 2025.

With 46 ALLROUNDER machines and rapid mould and programme changes, Turck produces a wide variety of product variants with high cost-effectiveness, precision and process reliability.

Optimised process monitoring

Precise monitoring and control of the injection volume ensures consistently high part quality – even with widely varying part sizes and weights. Process efficiency has also been further improved

Challenge

A high number of variants, fluctuating order situations and a dynamic market environment place particular demands on production at Turck Mexico. With moulds ranging from one to four cavities right through to one-piece flow, there was a need to create maximum flexibility and transparency in order to control production processes efficiently while reducing order backlogs. The use of the ARBURG MES ALS was intended to help optimise machine utilisation and significantly increase responsiveness to short-term market fluctuations.

Solution

To manage production more efficiently and respond faster to changing market requirements, Turck opted to use the ARBURG host computer system as a Manufacturing Execution System (MES). Even during the test phase, the ALS identified unused machine capacity and helped to systematically reduce this. All relevant production data is automatically recorded in a continuous and traceable process with no manual input required. Order progress, machine statuses, process parameters and messages are clearly available at all times.

Thanks to its improved utilisation of machine capacity and optimised mould change processes, Turck has been able to significantly increase the flexibility and efficiency of its manufacturing operations. Following the completion of training sessions delivered by ARBURG’s ALS specialists, the system is now fully integrated into day-to-day production operations and supports Turck in tackling future challenges even more quickly and effectively.

Thanks to intelligent order grouping and optimised production planning, the company will be able to respond even more effectively to diverse customer requirements in future.
