The injection unit sizes are 30, 70 and 100, the mould mounting platens for the new machine type are 275 x 320 millimetres. The maximum clamping force is 250 kN. After the great suc- cess of the small A L L R O U N D E R 175 V injection moulding ma- chine, which was created in response to repeated customer requests, ARBURG continues to concentrate on series ma- chines especially designed for the en- capsulation of inserts. [...] With clamping forces from 400 to 2,000 kN, the range of fi ve machine sizes, the ALLROUNDER 270 C, 320 C, 420 C, 470 C and 570 C GOLDEN EDITION, which each feature a fi xed clamping force and injection unit combination. [...] Particularly in terms of precision and speed of part production, new op- portunities for combining modular electric machine technology with multi-compo- nent processing were anticipated. With the ALLROUNDERs 320 A, 420 A, 520 A and 570 A, the ALLDRIVE series cur- rently comprises four performance stag- es.
The all-electric A machine series will be represented by an ALLROUNDER 320 A 600-170 with the LSR equipment package and an ALLROUNDER 420 A 1000-400 which will be confi gured as a high-speed machine. [...] INFOBOX Series: ALLROUNDER A (ALLDRIVE) Sizes: 320 A, 420 A, 520 A with clamping forces from 500 to 2,000 kN Design : modular drive technology: main axes with servo-electric drives (opening and closing the mould, injec- tion, dosing), auxiliary axes (ejection, moving the nozzle, mould functions) with either electric or hydro-mechani- cal drives Technology: electrically-driven fi ve- point toggle system for high positional accuracy and rapid machine move- ments, small hydraulic accumulator for hydraulic movements Benefi ts: rapid simultaneous move- ments, low energy consumption, high precision, high reproducibility, low noise emissions PRODUCTION along the line tinuously during initial commissioning to ensure that no foreign particles are subse- quently found in the closed system. [...] Also particularly impressive was the powder injection moulding of a knife blade with a part weight of 7.55 grams on an Allrounder 320 C and the production of a table tennis bat as a multi-compo- nent application from ABS and TPE on an Allrounder 630 S.
The fi rst fi ve plants, which in- cluded a 320 S, a 370 S, two 420 S‘s and a 470 S with handling equip- ment, represented replacement in- vestment in which a market anal- ysis had been conducted among the four strongest machine sup- pliers and reinforced by employee participation through question- naires. [...] While the fi ve production units purchased in the previous year pro- duce standard parts, the seven new production cells with ALLROUNDERs 320, 370 and 420 S will be used for the manufacture of up-to-date com- ponents. [...] The third stage deals not only with the “new dimension“ machines, 320 K and 630 S, but also with options and peripherals. The key words here are MULTILIFT, two-component injec- tion moulding, electrical dosage, etc.
Electric machine saves around 35 percent of costs With a cycle time of 6.8 seconds, the electric ALLROUNDER 320 A was 1.5 sec- onds faster than the hydraulic model. In conjunction with the lower energy con- sumption, this cycle time reduction result- ed in a cost saving of 35 percent. [...] One example is the manufacture of so-called “collecting tubes” made from medically approved PP, which are pro- duced in a cycle time of 5.8 seconds on the ALLROUNDER 320 A before being au- tomatically packaged into PE bags in de- fined unit numbers. [...] Founded: 1956 by Ernst Rittinghaus Location: Halver, Germany Production: approx. 3,000 m² Employees: 11 Turnover: approx. 2 million euros (2011), continuously increasing by approx. 5 percent annually Machine fleet: 23 ALLROUNDERs with clamping forces from 150 to 1,500 kN Products: moulded parts weighing from 0.04 to 300 grams for the sanitary, dental, engineering, sensor, heating, electrical, life sciences and medical technology sectors Contact: www.rittinghaus-gmbh.de The electric ALLROUNDER 320 A is docked to the clean room (left). This can be clearly seen, for example, in the latest two-com- ponent machine in the ARBURG programme, the ALLROUNDER 320 S 500-150/60, which can be seen on the company stand in Düsseldorf. [...] For this reason, increas- ing the previous range of machine variants to include versions with two injection units was seen as desirable. The ALLROUNDER 320 S is available in a two-colour design with 350 and 500 kN clamping force. [...] Two component and modular technology The ALLROUNDER 320 S pro- vides its users with the latest ARBURG machine and control technology for processing two different materials or colours.
TWINDISC: The OMD Company At OMD in Switzerland – an- other well-known producer of ODs – there are already five TWINDISC 320 C machines at work. Working together with system integrator Robi, ARBURG planned the ma- chines and has optimised them for the production requirements of OMD. [...] The company’s machine line- up ranges from type 270 H and D machines, to 500 kN type 320 D ALLROUNDERs and 270 M 350-90 and 320 M 500-210 machines, and extends to a 1000 kN type 420 M, whereby the oldest ma- chine is still hard at work around the clock. 13 A R B U R G Logistics receipts such as individually-or- dered spare parts.
Situated directly next to the 370 U “advance" was an ALLROUNDER 320 A (“A“ for the electric ALLDRIVE series), allowing customers to compare the two technologies in terms of energy consumption and cycle times. [...] In addi- tion to the entire ALLROUNDER U series, the complete A machine series was also on show, which consisted of the 320 A, 420 A and 520 A models. The topics of product training and spare parts management were the focus of the large service sector presentation.
For the production of the rotor magnets, which have a diameter of 8 mil- limetres and a part weight of 0.4 grams, an ALLROUNDER 320 C 600-100 with servo-regulated two-pump technology is used. The cylinder fi ttings are a modi- fi ed development by Magnetfabrik Bonn, and are adapted to the specifi c produc- tion requirements, which require the magnetisation of the material employed. This the reason why ARBURG was involved with equipping the training truck from the beginning, providing an ALLROUNDER 320 S for “training purposes”. The French are also convinced that this type of information centre on wheels does work. [...] ARBURG plays its part where the famous LEGO bricks are produced - in the LEGO factory. An ALLROUNDER 320 S works on a production line which clearly demonstrates the production of plastic building bricks from when the granu- late is fed into the machine to the production chines which involve larger clamping forces it was increasingly becoming more and more diffi cult to present an overview of the compa- ny’s complete machine range.
